    Thank you for your message, David. I take a lot from the aside to Acts 16 i.e. that Paul was not averse to circumcision.
    In particular, Paul was not averse to circumcision as a social practice of the Jews, whereas Galatians 5 makes clear the contrast with true spirituality which is faith in Christ. The social was first made to be spiritual by the Judaisers, but the error has compounded since the beginning. Thus we might ask concerning whether there were any Judaisers – that is, among the disciples who were first called Christians – or were the people of Antioch referring to those whose faith was at work through love?
