Hi David,
I haven’t digested your entire India story as yet, but what I have read is very interesting.
Regarding use of the horn whilst driving, I can attest to that. Ford Motor Company had to revise the wiring in one of its cars using heavier gauge wire … because with the standard gauge wire, the Indian drivers were melting the wiring through constant use o the horn!
BTW, is that you in the Illini shirt? That’s where I grew up … Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
no way!
spent academic year 93/94 in Champaign. Lived in PAR.
Except for one year, I lived in Champaign from around 1963 to 1971 (dating myself here, roughly from age 5 to 13). My last year there was spent as a sub-freshman at “Uni High”, made infamous by last year’s Miss America winner, Erika Harold.
Those days in Champaign were some of the happiest of my life. I’ve been back several times since, only for brief visits. I was there for one day only, in August of this year, and got to visit Lake-of-the-Woods and some other sites. It was neat to be able to show those to my own kids.
