Neatorama, the purveyors of all things, well, neat have a post with the following picture and the caption “Smokestack Pollution”, via eatliver.

i hate to spoil their fun but that’s not pollution. Those are cooling towers, big things used at power stations to, as the name suggests, cool. All that supposed “pollution” is, in fact, just steam. You know, the sort of stuff that “pollutes” your bathroom when you’re having a shower.

It does, however, provide a chance to relate the wonderful idea that the family of an ex-girlfriend had which was to tell their young children that cooling towers are, in fact, cloud machines…
