The Rick Smith juggernaut appears to be slowly gathering speed. WhyRick.info are reporting that all the Rectors on the Diocese’s Missions Board are publicly supporting Rick to be elected as the next Archbishop of Sydney.
All the rectors on the Mission Board and Mission Board Strategy Committee have joined more than 22 elected members of Standing Committee in calling for Rick Smith to be next Archbishop of Sydney.
Peter Lin from Fairfield joins other rectors from the Mission Board: Stephen Semenchuck from Dapto, Ted Brush from the Lower Blue Mountains, Stefan Bull from Caringbah, Dominic Steele from Annandale and Bruce Hall from Auburn (also Director New Churches) in endorsing Mr Smith.
Mr Lin, who’s a member of the Mission Board Strategy Committee says with Sydney becoming more multicultural every day it’s essential we have an Archbishop who has been right in there and knows in theory and practice what needs to be done.
Mr Lin says with his track record, Rick is the man who as Archbishop will be able to see multicultural ministry blossom not just in the west and south west but right across Sydney.
Mr Lin joins Bruce Hall (former Rector of, St Paul’s Carlingford, for 29 years) and a host of synod representatives from across the diocese, incoming Moore College Principal Mark Thompson, at least 21 other members of the Diocesean Standing Committee and the Deans of Sydney, Parramatta and Wollongong Cathedrals in endorsing Mr Smith.
