Cranmer’s Law

Priceless. And oh so true.

“No matter how decent, intelligent or thoughtful the reasoning of a conservative may be, as an argument with a liberal is advanced, the probability of being accused of ‘bigotry’, ‘hatred’ or ‘intolerance’ approaches 1 (100%).”

to which I would add Ould's Law:

“No matter how decent, intelligent or thoughtful the reasoning of a Christian may be, as an argument with a combative atheist is advanced, the probability of being accused of stupidity and then being insulted approaches 1 (100%).”

and Ould's Second Law:

“The more vehemently an atheist opposes the argument that atheism provides no solid basis for making moral statements, the less virtuous will be the language used to voice that opposition”.
