Bishop Richard Condie of Tasmania, who is the chair of Fellowship of Confessing Anglican (FCA) Australia. has written to his fellow bishops in Australia to explain his rationale behind participating in the consecration on Friday 30 June of Canon Andy Lines as a missionary bishop. He is joined there by Archbishop Davies of Sydney and Bishop Nelson of North West Australia.

Condie describes the decision of the Scottish Episcopal Church to change its doctrine of marriage as “schismatic” and writes of the “doctrinal unfaithfulness” of the supporting bishops. Like Archbishop Davies he could be understood to be challenging the opposition he is receiving from other Australian bishops over his move. Speaking of those disenfranchised Anglicans in Scotland he urges,

I believe we should all be committed to support them, and recognise our deep fellowship with them.
