CityWoman 2012 – Where is your ladder leaning?

CityWoman 2012 – Where is your ladder leaning?

Preaching through 2 Corinthians at church has really opened up for me this question of what it is that we value the most. In Paul’s words, what do we boast in?

2Cor. 10:17 “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Paul’s boasting in the Lord is because he knows that the Lord (Jesus Christ) is the one who does all things and so he relies on Him, not himself. Thus any boasting is in his own weakness, so that Jesus’ power might be seen instead of his own.

2Cor. 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

All of this means that the Christian’s boast/ambition/motivation/whatever you want to call it is that Jesus be seen to be great ahead of our own self-centred ambitions.

City Bible Forum Sydney are putting on an event for women dealing with exactly this topic. citywoman 2012 in on the evening of Thursday 16 August. Kirstie Ross, one of our church members, will be speaking…

Our second citywoman event is coming up….THURSDAY 16TH AUGUST, 6.15-8PM… Ambition in life: are our ladders leaning against the right walls?

“The choice and successful pursuit of a profession is but one tool for achieving your purpose. But without a purpose, life can become hollow.” So wrote Clayton Christensen in the Harvard Business Review, July 2010.

Writes our citywoman event speaker, Compliance Controller Kirstie Ross: “The on-going economic uncertainties have re-directed ambitions beyond the corner office. So what then should our life mission statement be?”

And where better to consider this question than in the reception area of a “corner office” (the Penthouse floor of the Suncorp Building), over canapes and a breathtaking city nightscape?

Kirstie will show how the words of Jesus give her purpose, as well as a metric for measuring her own life so that she knows where to direct her ambitions. This event is for women who would be interested in hearing what Jesus has to offer, and perhaps haven’t had the opportunity to consider this before.

Register here, ladies, and think through which wall your ladder is leaned up against.
