our good friend yahvah surpasses himself…

The whole thread is pretty entertaining.

btw, can anyone make sense of this comment from yahvah? I’m stuffed if I know what he’s talking about.

    Heh- that kid’s a handful.

Also, I think you were right on about our most recent bannee. He started an AIM conversation with me the other day, and was just being a complete nimrod, raising all these unfounded accusations about the “Christian Right,” and blowing off steam that the moderates weren’t doing anything about them. Considering that I consider myself a moderate, and he was being so intolerably arrogant and not listening to the point where I actually had to remove myself from the conversation (which is not something I often do), I’d say your first instinct was correct. 😉

and was just being a complete nimrod

Ahh … Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD, eh?

Perhaps if one could take that as him hunting down ways to make himself look dumber?

I am quite thankful that I never encounter anymore. One rarely sees such willful, active, and stubborn ignorance and denial of the facts of Scripture.

The conversation is faith vs. works, and his critique of the conservative Christian view associated with Paul, so he’s mentioning how flabbergasted he is that you think God sends folks to hell for not having professed faith.

At least that’s how I read it.

I promised my discipler I wouldn’t have anymore contact with many months ago, but I suppose just reading the thread wouldn’t hurt. I hope. *goes to read*

Argh… what an angry little man. I think he’s confused about children who aren’t mature-knowing enough to be accountable and children/adults who are. God is just and He wouldn’t send someone to hell if they weren’t able to make a right choice because they didn’t know any better. I think he’s sort of putting words in your mouth.

I ran across this in John 15, today: If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.

There was an entry in challenging god about how some Christians call unbelievers “god-haters” and I had wondered if that had come from that passage (vs 18-25).

Anyway, it sounded to me like yavah wanted to make you feel bad for believing that if your daughter died she’d go to hell. I don’t believe that, btw. It reminded me a lot of the Mormon letter (I had time to read one) where the guy had played on your emotions about having your wife as your wife in heaven.

If I recall correctly, there was a thread some time ago in in which the topic of discussion was an age of accountability . . . perhaps he’s been lurking there and is referring to that discussion?

I’m thankful I haven’t encountered recently. He’s certainly the most pushy Judaizer I’ve encountered.
