Another Low

There is, really, only one thing worse than racism.

It’s trying to excuse the behaviour.

Truly appalling.

Every so often I read something on livejournal that really dismays me. I remain unable to comprehend how people can actively set out to do this sort of thing, indeed even enjoy it.

    Good grief!

I guess that’s why they invented the ban_set feature!

That whole thing was deffinately idiotic.

I showed that picture to my roommates (we’re big burley men) and we all melted.

I just want to say as a friend of , that the way you responded to this all was really admirable (including your polite tone in this post).

I don’t agree with what he said about your daughter at all, nor this trying to weasel out of it, and although most people would have resorted to mud-slinging after a comment like that, you took the high road, which I really respect.

you’re very kind. Someone much greater and wiser than me once advised that the better way is to turn the other cheek. He didn’t just tell others to do it, he did it himself.

Do let your friend / know that it’s not big and it’s not clever.
One day, I trust, he’ll be horrified at his behaviour over this.

on the contrary. You were racist, viz. you used the term “half-caste” – a deliberate reference to race – with the deliberate intent of causing offence. And then you plumbed the depths by attempting to defend your actions.

Then you sink even further by continuing to troll this journal. At some point, I’m sure, you’ll grow up.

Hi, I skipped on over from , I hope you dont mind.
I must say I’m sickened and apalled by some of the behaviour shown on that community. That anyone could be so ignorant, oblivious or callous (im hoping it’s the first two, but I dont like my chances) as to think that using a term like ‘half-caste’ is appropriate just saddens and angers me.

I’m very impressed with the way you handled it, I dont think i could have been quite as dignified in my responses. Kudos to you.
